  PS Bluepoint Leak

The Japanese branch of?PlayStation?seems to have accidentally revealed that it has acquired Bluepoint Games, the studio behind the?PS5 remake of?Demon’s Souls. It also developed and released?ports of the first two God Of War?games, the Metal Gear Solid series, and the Uncharted trilogy, along with the Vita version of PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale. This comes right after news that PlayStation Studios has purchased Housemarque, which worked with Sony on the PS5 exclusive Returnal.

Indeed, PlayStation Studios has built up an impressive roster of subsidiaries, with big names like Naughty Dog, Insomniac Games, Santa Monica Studio, Media Molecule, and Guerrilla Games providing top-tier first-party exclusives for the PS4 and PS5 over the past few years. While PlayStation has been trying to keep up with Microsoft’s recent purchase of Bethesda, along with speculation that IO Interactive, Avalanche Studios, and Crytek could be joining Xbox Game Studios number soon, Sony remains a force to be reckoned with, and the in-house talent pool at PlayStation Studios only continues to grow.

Earlier today, reliable internet rumor hunter Nibel revealed that PlayStation Japan accidentally posted an image of Bluepoint Games’ logo instead of Housemarque’s to Twitter while announcing PlayStation’s acquisition of the latter to a Japanese audience. He was later able to verify this, but the PlayStation Japan tweet has since been deleted.

While its primary focus nowadays is updating older titles for newer consoles, Bluepoint Games has some considerable talent behind it. Its founding members, Marco Thrush and late Andy O’Neil, had previously worked as engineers on the?Metroid Prime series by the time they formed their own studio in 2006. Its first game was a PS3 exclusive titled Blast Factor,?one of the first titles to be made available on the then-newborn PlayStation Network. Bluepoint Games made the shift to porting games soon afterward, earning critical acclaim for?its?polished remasters of hits like the 2009 indie gem Flower and the physics-bending 2012 platformer Gravity Rush Remastered.

It isn’t clear if Bluepoint Games will use its newfound partnership with PlayStation Studios to start working on original content or continue to create polished PS5 remakes?of Sony’s older games, but it certainly has the talent and experience to make a great asset for PlayStation?going forward. As mentioned above, the news of Sony’s purchase of Bluepoint hasn’t been formally announced yet, but given the leak’s authenticity and the Housemarque news, it likely won’t be long before Sony starts officially spreading the word.

He currently lives in York, Pennsylvania and works as a dishwasher at Shallow Brook Intermediate School. He is a big comic book, video game, and science fiction fan, and likes writing reviews on his blog during his off-hours, at least when he’s not writing articles for ScreenRant or scripts for some of his crazy TV show ideas.

A graduate from York County School of Technology, he’s self-published several books on Amazon, and once won 1st place at a regional computer fair for a CGI animated short. He might post it on Youtube someday. He hopes that working for this site will be his first step into the larger universe of online writing, since Megazord technology hasn’t been invented yet and he doesn’t seem to have any Force powers.
